About RuralPros
Finding a well driller, septic installer or off-grid solar company for a rural property is harder than it should be. Most directories are built for cities, pad their pages with businesses that don't serve your area, and rank whoever pays the most.
RuralPros is a directory of the trades rural and off-grid properties actually need — wells, septic, solar and batteries, excavation, surveyors, builders, generators, water treatment, wood heat and rural internet. We're starting on Vancouver Island and growing across British Columbia.
How listings get here
We find businesses through their own websites, industry associations, public registries and business directories. Every listing shows where its information came from and the month we got it, so you can judge it for yourself.
What the badges mean
- Owner-confirmed — the business claimed its listing and confirmed the details itself.
- Verified — we checked the details against the business's own website or public records, on the date shown.
- Unverified — the listing comes from a public source and we haven't checked it yet.
We re-check listings regularly and change or remove them when a business moves, closes or stops offering a service.
What's never for sale
Verification and the order of results can't be bought. Lists show owner-confirmed and verified businesses first, then sort by distance where we know it. Paying for any optional service never changes either.
How RuralPros is funded
Listings are free. RuralPros is paid for by optional extras for contractors — such as a Pro page with photos of their work — and by clearly labelled sponsors and partner links. None of these affect verification or the order of results, and we never sell personal information (see our privacy policy).
